C#
« on: September 06, 2010, 07:07:15 pm »
Hi, I was wondering what any of you smart people out there would recommend for C# learning resources.
I've tried MSDN, and I'll probably use it if I have any questions or anything, but I need something for more information.
What books, websites, or other resources would you guys recommend for learning C#?

I've heard C# is much more valuable than VB6 to learn, so I want to try to learn it.

Then why did you ask if you already knew the answer, Ken? Of course google and MSDN are going to be your best friends learning C#, why would you assume otherwise?

Just trust me. Won't find a better resource then the ones I suggested.

Thanks for wasting my time, gentlemen.

I learned C# entirely through Google and MSDN.  If you can't use search engines and documentation, you shouldn't be writing code.

PSCode.com is a good resource but there are so many different styles, and a lot of it is really hard to follow.

Want to buy a book for 1 cent?? (plus shipping though.. ew)
http://www.amazon.com/Web-Development-ASP-NET-Jose-Mojica/dp/0201882604
There may be other books by the same publisher (authors are often different). Just search _Language_ visual quickstart guide. These books are for absolute beginners but are great for references. The content is very simple but it will help you get a good grasp, and in my opinion it's very well explained. You can usually find a PDF for download.

More info on finding PDFs, because it can be tricky. First find the book you want, then find its ISBN, 10 and 13 digit, but you will likely be using the 13 one. then search _isbn_ pdf, also try bookname_pdf_.  Another good way is to go to a rapidshare search, or filestube.com and searching for the isbn or book name.
