That's the part of your post I agreed with. C++ has no good UI frameworks.

Well bud my guess is the majority of your users will be linux. no one else probably knows how to work a command line lmao.

you must be mistaken. most users can work a simple windows console. it is on no level compareable to standard bash.

C++ has fine GUI abilities. First run of l2uthless Ops 3.0 was written in it and looked identical to the original VB copy.

*only implying that I have no clue what it is written in now

The Win32 API isn't good. Neither is wxWidgets, GTK (hell no),  Cocoa is good, but it's in Objective-C unless you used some contrived bridge.

Qt comes the closest, and it uses a special compiler ahead of time to allow for special added C++ functionality. That's hardly a testament to the language.

There is no competent C++ API for rendering UI. At all. It's all a mess. No declarative UI, no animations, no GPU acceleration. Like honestly, what year are we in again? It's 2010 not 1998.

Direct2D on Windows is a good immediate mode API with superb Text drawing APIs (Arguably the best on any platform, besting even the FT libs), but it's just that, an immediate mode API. You get no widgets, no input management, nothing.

The situation on Linux is laughable when it comes to having even a remotely manageable time doing anything. You're either stuck using GTK, Qt, or wxWidgets, or you're stuck writing front ends for every one of the platforms.

There is no good hardware accelerated, cross platform C++ UI framework. None.

When myself or others argue that Linux has nothing great to offer in terms of GUI libraries or frameworks for C++, a select few will strongly oppose. If warrior states the same, I bet no one will oppose the same way if at all.

Possibly because c++ is more of an add-on for linux than a main library.
I'm not really sure what you mean.

Don't see why you are worried about this being used for warbots at all. At the end of the day there is this little bot called Kry that suits the purpose a lot more than Asgard 4 will. I also take it that it will not keep trying to rejoin the channel after being banned? You should not waste any time trying to deter warrers to be frank.

You may be right but bnls isn't going to effect the performance of a moderation bot so it does limit the warring ability of Asgard4 while making it easier to ensure support for battle.net in the future. I don't plan to make a GUI for Asgard4 but as for running as a service i'll look into it. If i decide not to make it a service i'll write a little AutoIT script that will allow Asgard4 to be minimized to tray. The only thing that stops this bot from being effective at warring is BNLS but if you have a well written locally hosted BNLS server you will not see any difference. I still need to work on the socket code to ensure it works on both windows and linux but beyond that I am making pretty good progress. I plan to implement support for queue sharing through the AsgardServer and i may even add support for botnet even though I am not really a fan of botnet. I am not sure how to do plugins in C++ but at a later time i'll look into it and if it's makes sense i'll add in plugin support.

Mike: There is more than one way to implement plug-ins in C++. What about dynamically loading DLLs?

The more relevant part of the plugin discussion would be designing the api for the plugins. Good luck on that, really, good luck.

Not controlled by him, and the major draw of BCP is using plugins already written. Of course those plugins assume Win32 API and Hooks.. so it's not cross platform. Plus, I can't even find BCP.h anymore to do a more thorough criticism.
