UGnome
« on: April 13, 2011, 12:11:00 am »
It is here. A public Battle.net Gnome you can use to collect various user/channel data. To limit the number of users who can use this plugin, I have required the use of MySQL to store data. If you have hosting with access to a MySQL database, then you can run your own gnome! Simply download the attached script, config/upload/install it (directions provided), and download the UGnome plugin for Reticle (version 1.0 Alpha 4 minimum).

It's fairly straight forward but if you have any questions let me know. Enjoy!

I get that it's a "Public Gnome" plugin, but, why not go into Clan Channels? Sure, they aren't as public, but, what's the fun in getting data from Brood War USA-1?

Public meaning its available for others to use. All other gnomes have been private. It does go into clan and op channels.

Am I missing something then, because it says "Clan Bweb" is not a public channel, and it'll remove that name from the list.

The public channels list is just where the Gnome visits to gather private channel names. Gnome will visit those public channels multiple times per hour. You cannot add private channels to that list for that reason. Gnome will gather private channels to visit from clan tags and chat it sees, and visit them no more than 1 time per 4 hours. This is so the gnome won't annoy the channel users by joining too often. Thats why you can't add private channels to the public channel list. To get your gnome to visit a channel, simply whisper it a channel name and it will add it to its roam list.

Have you installed the scripts on a web server? If yes, have you configured UGnome to acces your /gnome.php file?

No chmod is required. Make sure permissions are 755 for folders, and 644 for files. Also visit index.php from your browser to make sure the script isn't throwing any errors at you.
