I don't get why those notes matter if they was made by the victim. A comment said that the victim had been writing like that since he was young, and if the killer had anything to do with the code, it would make more sense that he would take the notes instead of leaving them.

Why do they call it a zodiac killing?

edit: I'm confused, someone else responded that they were made by the killer, not the victim. X.x

What they need to do is offer a sick job to whichever cryptanalyst breaks it.

For all you geniuses, the notes were by the victim. His family said he had been writing those sense he was young. They have no idea how to decrypt them.

In most countries selling harmful things like drugs is punishable. How come people can sell Microsoft software and go unpunished?
The Linux philosophy is "laugh in the face of danger". Oops. Wrong one. "Do it yourself". That's it.
Going from Windows to Linux is like trading a glider for an F117.

That's why I was confused. There was a person who commented:
Quote
Just an observation: many of the people who have commented seem to assume that the notes were written by the killer – they were not. The notes were written by the VICTIM, Ricky McCormick. His family confirmed that McCormick has been writing notes similar to these since he was a young man, but none of them knows what the notes mean or how to decipher them. McCormick, btw, had a modest education (never finished high school), had no background in mathematics or logic, and as far as I know, wasn’t intellectually gifted. The code is most likely something very personal. The FBI is hoping that deciphering the notes gives them an idea of McCormick’s whereabouts and activities during the days immediately prior to his death. I found these details at the FBI website and thought they might be useful to those of you who are trying to decipher the notes.

--but then there was a comment to that saying

This has nothing to do with the Zodiac case. They were just making a comparison.
